Stunning Marble for Kitchens
Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals such as calcite. It comes in many different colours and forms. The characteristic swirls and veins are due mainly to various mineral impurities such as clay, silt, sand, and iron oxides. These veins are what give marble its natural beauty but are also the reason why many marbles are more fragile than our other options.
True marble was originally limestone that has been altered by heat and pressure over time. Even today several well-known materials continue to be called marbles when in fact they are technically dense limestones that will take a high polish.

Sealing and installing your new marble worktops
Marble is an elegant choice and a timeless style option for interior design. However, marble is somewhat softer and more porous than granite or quartz, which means it is more prone to scratches, chips, stains and etching.
Marble is frequently used in bathrooms where staining isn’t such a concern, and sometimes for kitchen work surfaces – although this is not something we would advise. As a kitchen worktop, marble requires a lot more care and caution to keep it looking its best.
Due to advances in the manufacturing of engineered quartz and ceramics, there are now vast ranges of other ‘marble look’ materials available. However, if you prefer to have a natural stone and want the marble look, natural quartzite may be a better option. Albeit, sometimes a little more expensive.
